Be Successful in a Dental Assistant Program in Columbus

smiling dental asst and out of focus dentistIf you’ve recently enrolled in a dental assistant program in Columbus, then you may be wondering what it takes to be successful and pass with flying colors. Read on for a few tips.

There’s No Such Thing as a Stupid Question

If there is something you don’t understand, then please ask your instructor to clarify the information. Chances are there is another student in the class with the same question in mind. Teachers are not mind readers, so they cannot tell if they said something confusing. Please ask for help.

Make a Friend, Be a Friend

You and your classmates are all in this together. Each student comes with strengths and weaknesses and will learn at his or her own pace. If you can help someone, then do so. You never know when you might be the student that needs help.

Exchange contact information with at least one other student, so you can reach someone outside of the classroom if necessary.

Form a Study Group

Study buddies can help each other and provide encouragement. There is a lot of material to cover, so as the saying goes—two heads are better than one! Especially before exams, it is a good idea to get together in order to review all of the material.

Do Your Homework

Just like when you were in high school, your homework in the dental assistant program in Columbus is designed to support what you learn in class. You may also be assigned to read about a subject that will be explained in the next day’s class. Take time to read the material when you are awake and alert.

Take Notes and Highlight

During class, be sure to take notes as the instructor lectures and reviews the material in your book. A highlighter is a great way to mark important information that you need to go back over before a test.

Use Your Phone During Class

No, don’t make calls—use your phone to take pictures during lab work. Photos are a great way to study for an exam.

Have Fun!

Yes, you are studying for an important career in dentistry. No, not every minute is serious. Have some fun in your class. You’ll need to work hard, of course, but a sense of humor can be a great stress reliever when the going gets tough.

Congratulations and best of luck as you pursue work as a dental assistant! Haven’t enrolled yet? Contact a dental assistant program today!

It was a great experience! I was very nervous about dental and wasn’t sure how much I’d like it but through this experience I feel a lot better about going into the field. Jeanie who is the instructor is also a very warm person and truly cares for each of her students and their growth in the field.

Dental Assistant Pro is a wonderful program! The instructors, Jeanne and Abby, are very welcoming and do a great job at teaching their students. This program teaches you all of the basics and allows you to enter at an entry level dental assisting position at any Office. It was very convenient having classes only on the weekends and was so much fun!
